Identity checking procedures

Online identity verification iconDr Fox introduced extra identity verification checks November 2017. All online clinics are required by the regulator, the Care Quality Commission, to have in place patient identity verification processes.

How the checks work

The majority of patients can be verified online instantly by referencing data on their credit profile. This is called a ‘soft’ check to validate identity only, and is not a check on a person’s credit-worthiness. The ID check will not affect their credit rating.

Patient’s must enter their correct full name and date of birth, and a delivery address that is registered with a payment card provider, bank or building society, finance provider, or electoral register, to pass an online credit check.

Dr Fox uses LexisNexis to undertake this check. If you require further information please telephone LexisNexis on 02920 678555, or contact Dr Fox.

Photo ID option

Photo IDs (passport, driving licence, 18+card)

Patients who cannot be verified online from credit profile or electoral roll data can still proceed to make an order. After ordering they will be required to upload a photo of a valid photo identity document (passport, driving licence, 18+ card, national ID card – must be current and in-date), that contains their name, date of birth, and a photo, before a prescription can be issued and an order is despatched.

An administrator will review the document (Monday–Friday 9am–5pm) to confirm identity, and the photo ID will then be deleted from our server. ID document images will be encrypted until deleted.

Once a patient’s identity has been verified they will not be required to undergo the process again.
